Self-bow made of acacia tree/process of fabrication

  • This particuliar piece of a stave is about 25cm in diameter, it has been split on four pieces...

  • Carefully taking the back down to a single growth ring, it's a crucial step to the bow's durability..a lot of work i might add but worth it!!

  • Once a growth ring established you can continue with a belly of the bow, a part of the bow facing you when shooting, carefully removing with a draw knife ...

  • Using steam to straightened a bow, there is no perfectly straight piece of wood, in this case i had to do it several times...

  • Rasping time, a lot's of rasping i might add, in this stage you want to go carefully with a wood removal, its time consuming but..

  • It's getting it's shape, yoohooo:)

  • That's the finished bow, it pulls about 30lbs, not bad at all...
